Search text in header section

  • Hello,

    I′m trying to put inside the field search a text, the search field in header section doesnt show any as the one below in the page, I tried several ways but not sure why isnt working it for me, any idea about this?

    I dont have the site online, I′m using Xampp locally in my PC, so I uploaded an image:

    are you using the Header Widget ? And is that a standard Search Widget inside it ?

    Hello,

    I′m taking the first steps in wordpress, not sure if its the best approach but i went to Customize / Widgets / Header and with the plus button I added the Search widget.

    Is fine that way?
