Hello, I have two sidebars on my site, but once I put the search widget on one, I cannot add it to another.

Is there a way to get around this?
    Thanks.

You should be able to add the search widget to as many sidebars as you want. Does “Search” disappear from “Available Widgets” after you’ve dragged it to one sidebar?

Worst case scenario, you could probably copy the contents of searchform.php into a manual text/HTML widget. Might require some tweaking.

Unfortunately after I’ve dragged the search widget it no longer appears in the Available Widgets section.

How would one create a manual widget?

That’s strange. I’m using WordPress 3.0.5 and the Twentyten theme, and the search widget remains available no matter how many times I drag it over to the active area.

The “Text” widget (described as “Arbitrary text or HTML”) can be used to create a widget with your own code. If you need to execute PHP in such a widget, the plugin Exec-PHP will be required.
