• Hello,

I’ve set up a website using this database and everything has been working out great so far. I am now trying to figure out a way to use the search functions so that when a particular Keyword is types in it will search across all the fields included in the database, and not just the specific field chosen from the drop down menu.

Is this possible? I assume it could be done using a custom template, which I’m familiar with. I’m not too sure on the PHP that would be involved though.

    Any helps would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Max

    Hi Max,

To do this kind of search you need to get the Combo Multisearch add-on for Participants Database.

Thanks xnau, I have looked in to plugin (it looks great) but as this is a project for University I’m unable to use any sort of paid plugin to achieve my functionality.

Due to this I’ve been trying to set this up in a different way, essentially what I would like to do is have a drop down menu for two database fields, that allows the user to select a field from both and search for a match. For example, the Location drop down features ‘South Australia, Western Australia’, and the Discipline drop down features ‘IT, Computer Science’.

I have achieved this functionality through your tutorial: Using Dropdown values in the list Search.

The problem I’m facing now, is that I can’t seem to get the fields to work with each other. When selecting fields for both drop downs and clicking search, only one field will work, while the other seems to be ignored.

Am I on the right track with following the tutorial, and essentially duplicating and editing parts of the control group code to allow for extra fields?

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Max
