Searching for Plugins

Hi,

I’m (fairly) new here. I have been searching the forums as well as the site as a whole, but haven’t turned up what I need, I possibly just missed the correct combination of words in my search, so please forgive me if the answer is already saring me in the face!

Ok, I am putting together a website for my Son’s Cub-Scout pack. I need a proof-of-concept ready to show the other parents by the end of the month. I considered writing the whole thing myself, but then figured that I didn’t want to re-invent the wheel!

I have downloaded WordPress and have it running on my Linux-based home development server. I suspect what I am looking for are plug-ins, but need advce on which ones to use to get what I need (and which will work together).

What I want is a site with a graduated scale of access. The goal of the site is internal communication for parents, primarily, so the “guest” access should be minimal (we may want general promo type stuff there.

I want my users to be able to log in with either a dedicated account, or use Social Media login (Facebook, Twitter etc.) if they choose to.

The pack is divided into dens, each of which has an (adult) den leader.

When a new parent registers, we want them to be prompted for the Son’s den and Son’s name. The registration then needs to be approved by the relevant den leader or a member of the management team.

Each Den needs to have it’s own page, visible only to its members. Then we want a pack page too, visible to all members. One of the key features of these pages is a calendar to publicise meetings. The individual den calendars should show the pack events as well as their own den events. These calendars need to be able to be subscribed to to allow parents to have them show up in Outlook, Google calendar etc. as well as on the site pages.

In addition, we want a page for all the den leaders to be able to share resources, such as contacts for good places to visit, ideas for games etc.

Sorry for the long post. I have managed to find most (if not all) of what I want, but my problem is that there are a great many plug-ins to choose from and I’m not sure how to make them play nicely together (or which ones do!) I am also unsure about the security part.
