Second Installation Question …

  • Hi folks,

    I’ve been running WP1.5 since March at https://www.avalon5.com and I’m very happy with it. However, I want to install a test site as I’m having a theme custom made for me, and I need somewhere to test it. What are the key steps I need to consider now in order to create a test site? Should I install 1.5.2 in the new test site and then when the new theme is proven, with plugins etc., update my main site to 1.5.2?

    Basically I’m keen to install a second installation but Iwant to share the same database (not tables obviously) and hopefully do this in such a way as to preserve my main site until I’m ready to upgrade/replace it with the new theme.

    all suggestions / help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Scratch that:)

    I found the multiple installation docs and just lashed ahead and installed a second instance in the same database. Easy peasy really. Now for the hard part.. to throw up a new theme and start bringing in each plugin again, one by one ??
