Secondary widget not working in Twenty Thirteen

  • I cannot get the secondary widget area to accept any widgets at all, they just spring back. I have two widgets in the primary area: slideshow and etsy mini. this is my first wp project. My ultimate plan is to have the secondary widget area visible on some pages and not on others. I have read documentation, googled and read forums, and it seems to be so straight forward. What am I missing? Thanks.

  • Hi DigitalAndBack,

    Try disabling plugins and then try the widgets. Sometimes plugins do not play nice and can cause issues in the dashboard.

    A really easy way to show certain widgets (regardless of which widget area they are in) on certain pages or posts is with a plugin like Display Widgets:

    I really like that plugin because you can show or hide on checked so it’s quick to hide a widget on just one or two pages or only show a widget on one or two pages.
