• I had an existing wordpress site with an ecommerce store that worked perfectly. I changed hosts and transferred the domain. I copied the database and the entire wordpress directory. Now when I go to the new web host, I get a secure connection error and cant access the site. I tried doing an SSH connection to the server and adding the wordpress stuff to the hosts file but got an error that I didn’t have write permission, even though I’m logged in as the main SFTP/SSH account. Not even sure if this is something I should do, or if I missed a step somewhere in moving the site.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

  • Call your new host and ask them for help. It looks to be One and One hosting.

It seems to be an issue with the domain name and the host.

The domain name your WordPress thinks it should be using is on Web Hosting Hub.

WordPress is probably trying to reach assets at the old domain name (which probably needs transferring or pointed at the new host).

You have to ask for more info, usually when your new provider makes the transfer he takes care of what to change in WordPress. Instead, if the transfer is manual, in addition to the url home, site change, the database url must also have the substitution.

Always full back-up database and file WordPress. ??
