I’m using Jetpack’s Secure Sign On to log in to my WordPress 5.1 wp-admin. When using Firefox 65.0.2 64-bit for Windows 10, I’m continually redirected back to the login page every time I click the “Log in with WordPress.com” button.

The only way I can get around this is by clicking on the “Log in with username and password” link and trying to log in with my username and password. Doing so returns an odd error message “ERROR: Cookies are blocked or not supported by your browser. You must enable cookies to use WordPress” even though cookies are enabled. But then, I’m able to click the “Log in with WordPress.com” button and it finally redirects me properly to my Dashboard.

I tested this using Chrome on the same computer and the SSO redirect always works properly. I see no errors in the Console or persisted Network Monitor on Firefox.

Any ideas? Seems odd it would work properly on Chrome but not Firefox.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Nineteen theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

I was already using the Twenty Nineteen theme. After disabling all plugins (other than Jetpack of course) the same issue still occurs.

And you have no trouble logging in normally when Jetpack is deactivated?

Correct. If I disable Jetpack, I am able to log in normally just fine. It is just the Jetpack SSO that’s giving me problems, and like I said, it only gives me problems on Firefox, not Chrome.

Ok, please make sure that Firefox is up to date: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version

If it is not, please try updating Firefox.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/delete-browsing-search-download-history-firefox

    2. Try with all browser add-ons temporarily disabled: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/disable-or-remove-add-ons

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which version of Firefox you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

The Firefox version I posted in my original message is still the latest version. Clearing the cache & cookies and running Firefox in Safe Mode does not resolve the issue.

What content blocking level have you selected at about:preferences#privacy ?

If Custom, what level of cookies are you allowing?

    Thread Starter imwithsam

    (@imwithsam)

I’m just using Standard content blocking with no exceptions.

I’m not able to reproduce the issue myself under Firefox 65.0.1 (65.0.2 was a Windows-only release).

Do you have access to another computer you can check on?
