    Hi,
Could you please let me know if Jetpack free version is enough to prevent hackers from intercepting money that comes in my account when people buy on my e-commerce website? I know that Jetpack has a protection against brute force attacks, but that concerns only cracking passwords, if I am not mistaken?
If no, which plan do I have to choose for security?
Sorry, I read everything but it is not clear to me.
Thanks a lot for your help.
    Kind regards,
    Fannhy

    Hi @npu2021

Great question! The free version of Jetpack does have the brute force protection as you mention, which is only for logins.

Jetpack Scan provides an additional layer of security by monitoring for changes to core WordPress files and threats from compromised or outdated plugins.

For what you’re describing, it sounds like you might need more of a Firewall product. We have some advice on this here:

    Hi Bruceallen,
Many thanks for your quick reply, this is very kind.
I see that Wordfence proposes a firewall but it will slow down my site, so I prefer to avoid.
I would have a clarification request, if you agree to reply: to access my website and be able to intercept the money, do the hackers absolutely need to guess and crack the password or they can do it without it? If they need to guess the password, then it is ok with Jetpack as my password is very strong.
Thanks a lot for your help and best regards,
    Fanny

    Hello @npu2021

    Glad to help!

If you keep your website updated (WordPress core, plugins, and the theme), use trustable plugins and strong passwords, you don’t need to worry, Jetpack Protection handles the cracking password attempts, and your hosting probably has security layers in place to avoid other types of hacking attempts.

Here you can find some information on how to keep your site secure?

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Dear Michelle,
Many thanks for your help and the link! This is very reassuring.
As my question concerns JetPack, would you be kind and let me know if the free version is enough or if it is better for my e-commerce website that I choose the premium version? If premium, which level shall I choose?
Thank you again for taking the time for answering, I appreciate a lot.
    My best regards,
    Fanny

    Hi @npu2021

With regard to the security issues that we discussed above with Brute Force Protection, the free version would be sufficient. For an additional layer of security, I would recommend turning on two-factor authentication:

That said, a paid Jetpack plan does offer several advantages including:

    * Backups – This will help protect your data by ensuring that you can restore your site in case of issues
    * Jetpack Scan – This will help identify security issues on your site.

If you interested in Backups and Jetpack Scan, I would recommend the Jetpack Security Real-time plan for an e-commerce site.
