security – how to avoid getting hacked?

My wp blog has been hacked a few times and this last time it really messed up the whole site. It went completely down and after a fresh re install now I have no admin capabilities.
I had installed the Crawltrack and it still happened. I wonder if it might actually have created a weakness in my security.
Is there anything else that I can do? HELP!
