Something bad happened when I tried to update WP.
It asked to do two updates and then said I was missing some files. I used the php code in my config to get these errors but I do not know how to fix them, can anyone help me? Thanks.

  • Please follow these instructions to manually update WordPress

You do not need to upload the wp-contents folder, but I suggest making sure you have uploaded a copy of the current twentyleleven theme, and rename existing theme and plugin folders prior to running WP to old-name (this will force WP to use default theme and no plugins when installing wp update) most often it is incompatible themes and plugins that cause auto update failures.)

Thanks! It put the site back online, I just have to go back in and fix the customization. I appreciate your help.

I always switch to default theme and deactivate all plugins prior to auto-update. After successful update: Run site to test core WP, then activate your theme, run site to test theme, then activate plugins one at a time to test each, yes, run site after each activation….has worked well for me…also ensure theme and plugin compatibility with current version of WP prior to updating. I do so late at night so it does not affect visitors as a rule.
