• Hi,

I have a public Google calendar linked to the plug in and displayed successfully in grid view.

When a user clicks the “see more details” button on an event from a desktop browser, they are taken to Google Calendar and a pop up is shown for the event card. (The expected behaviour)

When a user clicks the “see more details” button on an event from a mobile browser, the Google Calendar app opens, however the even card is not shown instead the message “Could not open the requested event” is shown. (The unexpected behaviour)

However, if the user has been invited to the event the bug is no longer seen – the event card is shown within the mobile Google Calendar app, with the ability to RSVP etc..

    Are others seeing this behaviour?

    Thanks

    Daniel

Thanks for the reply! I’m afraid we are already running 3.1.42 – and after checking the plugin list confirmed I can definitely still replicate the bug.

I don’t think this is the same bug as was being reported a few weeks ago with mobile tool tips, but maybe related somehow. The tool tip opens up, but it’s that next stage – going from the website widget to google calendar for “more details” that fails. My hunch is the link must be slightly malformed, but I’m not sure why/how.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi there,

Thanks for keeping in touch with us.

In this case, I do not seem to replicate this issue form my end. Could you kindly ensure that:

    1. You have installed the Google Calendar app within your mobile device
    2. The signed in account within the app is that one you are using within your Calendar or else ensure that you enable syncronization of calendars within your app

I hope this gets to help.

    Kind Regards,

    John

    Thanks for trying to replicate!

The strangest thing is that via PC not being synced to the calendar is not an issue – you are taken to your calendar and then a card for the event is hovering over your calendar. On mobile/tablet this doesn’t happen – you just see your own calendar!

If I enable sync for the calendar in the app, the links do then work however this isn’t feasible for our normal use case… Site visitors won’t be logged into that Google Account.

The aim of the calendar on our site is to show events we are running as a club. We have created a Google Calendar with events listed, all set to public events and indeed the calendar itself is set to fully public as well. So, I think, anyone should be able to click the link and see the event card.

To RSVP Google Group membership is required (they need to have been invited to RSVP!), but to see the event shouldn’t require an invite?

Our event page can be found here: https://climbridge.co.uk/events/

On PC, this works, on mobile app this doesn’t, so maybe it’s a Google Calendar app bug!? The issue is being seen on Android and iOS.

Many thanks, and sorry this isn’t a simple one…
