Seeking Advice – WordPress or Buddypress?
-
Hi folks,
I’m seeking advice here because I’m new to WordPress and I’m currently in the process of setting up a WordPress blog that aims to help NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) with news, advice, and community connections.
Now, I’m in a dilemma because I have just discovered Buddypress which it seems may be more suitable to the requirements of the site I’m setting up.
One of the features I’ve been asked to include is profile pages for each NGO that would like to sign up for the blog. Each NGO would provide a summary of their activities, area, projects and contact details etc. They would also have the option to sign up as a contributor to add their news on the blog. The idea was to use some of the excellent Profile extender plugins for this.
Now, I’m not a very technical person, which is why I went with WordPress in the first place. So, I’m wondering if I should switch to Buddypress for this blog even though we don’t need all of the Buddypress features. Is Buddypress much more complex to setup and manage?
Any comments are very welcome!
All the best,
Gogi
