• Hi everyone,

    I am a new wordpress user. I have been searching and searching for a theme where I can pretty much change everything without going into the code. Does such a theme exist? I have a draft for a website and I want to use wordpress so that the person I’m doing it for can go in and change the content themselves. I have found one where I can change background, header, colours but it doesn’t let me remove the twitter link and some other things. I have found that with most themes I’ve tried there is always a few things that I can’t change. If there is no such theme then I will have to reign myself to going in and trying to change code. Thanks in advance for any help and advice you can give.

    Here is a link to a draft for the website I want to create:

    As you can see I want to control colours, background, menu, header, and I want the last 3 news posts available on the homepage.

    Can nobody help me with this? Please?

    suffussion, atahualpa

    both free in theme directory. I use suffussion on one website, totally customizeable

    I have been sitting with suffusion for quite a few hours now and this is as far as I got.

    I don’t know how to get rid of the search box and I don’t know how to get three separate news stories as I have in my draft.

    I also couldn’t change the background of the top navigation buttons – I think there could be some kind of bug here as it would only change to black and not the colours I selected.

    Thanks for your response. I”ll have a look at atahualpa

    Have now installed atahualpa. The options are many. but can I reproduce my design here?

    I’m unsure, can anyone advise?

    get yourself something like the solarpress theme or Freedom….. Freedom would take minimal work to make it look like your design.

    Great thanks. I guess there’s only one freedom but I guess I should check.

    Installing now – let’s see!

    That’s the one alright… let us know if it works out for you..

    The options seem few and limited. Am I missing something? There is a premium them called Freedom too, I don’t think they’re the same.

    There’s also ads on the right of my pages.

    Hmm, I’m now willing to pay for something that will meet my needs. There are so many to choose from though!

    https://webbkampanj.net/wordpress/

    I think it looks very similar to what you wanted to achieve….. try putting some images up for the front page montage…. you seemed to have removed your home button too….

    Of all the hundreds of themes I’ve looked at there really isn’t any one of them that works out of the box…. you will always have to tweak and play around with them….

    edit… *different theme….

    (@mishmashmole)

    Yeah sorry, I went back to another theme…. but now going back to Freedom to see how far I can go.

    The theme options don’t give me so much control I feel. And I really can’t have ads on my pages. I’m also getting confused with how to have images on the pages – (Featured image etc etc) so I may even delete my pages and menu and start over.

    you should be able to get rid of the ads by editing sidebar.php… just delete the following line..

    <?php include(TEMPLATEPATH.”/script2/includes2.php”); ?>

    The image on the homepage is a little confusing at first but once done it’s easy enough…. just create a page and put your images on it… just one after the other…. then in the options for the theme in the menu on the left you will just need to “select the page (the new one you just craeted) as the “slider page” in the Theme Options panel”

    Thanks, I really appreciate your help!

    Got the images but the sizes are wrong but I’m sure I can solve that somehow. Is there any documentation available for this theme. There are things that don’t have an explanation, e.g. Cufon Font replacement and what sizes should I make my images so that they fit in the slider nicely.

    I don’t like the transition between the images either and there’s nothing in the options to change this.

    I think I may have to return to Suffusion. The options in that theme are many and can get confusing but there are many options built in at least.

    960px x 370px for images…

    all the slider options can be changed in home.php…

    <!-- SLIDER SETTINGS -->
    	   <script type="text/javascript">
    			$(window).load(function() {
    				$('#slider').nivoSlider({
    					effect:'random', //Specify sets like: 'fold,fade,sliceDown'
    					slices:15,
    					animSpeed:500,
    					pauseTime:3000,
    					startSlide:0, //Set starting Slide (0 index)
    					directionNav:true, //Next & Prev
    					directionNavHide:true, //Only show on hover
    					controlNav:true, //1,2,3...
    					controlNavThumbs:false, //Use thumbnails for Control Nav
    					controlNavThumbsFromRel:false, //Use image rel for thumbs
    					controlNavThumbsSearch: '.jpg', //Replace this with...
    					controlNavThumbsReplace: '_thumb.jpg', //...this in thumb Image src
    					keyboardNav:true, //Use left & right arrows
    					pauseOnHover:true, //Stop animation while hovering
    					manualAdvance:false, //Force manual transitions
    					captionOpacity:0.8, //Universal caption opacity
    					beforeChange: function(){},
    					afterChange: function(){},
    					slideshowEnd: function(){} //Triggers after all slides have been shown
    				});
    			});
    			</script>
