Segregating categories or "blog within blog"

If you edit your index.php you can exclude categories from showing on your homepage.

So make the new category and get its id (there a lots of tuts around for this).

Then change the code in your index to query_posts(‘cat=-ID’);

Once I exclude the category from the index, how do I get only the excluded category to appear on a separate page? (the “Road Diary” page)

The categories themselves are pages.

I added

query_posts(‘cat=-ID’);

before The Loop as stated in the link you provided, however I must be missing some code because all it did was show query_posts(‘cat=-ID’); on my homepage.

Sorry, the code I added was query_posts(‘cat=-3’);

Now there’s a different issue. When you click my page links, it goes to a 404 error page. I checked the permalink on the page editor and it’s the same.

https://www.kiltrock.net then click the “Music” link. It used to work until I made the category changes. It doesn’t seem to make sense.
