Sela Theme: Front Page layout similar to theme demo

  • Hello!

    I know this may be a ridiculously redundant, beginner question (I am familiar with HTML, CSS and VERY basic coding but am trying to teach myself the ins-and-outs of WordPress on my own) but I recently installed the Sela theme to my site (https://williamjamesd.wordpress.com/) and am trying to figure out how to create a similar front page to what is shown in the Sela Theme demo. I created a static front page, however I do not know how to display the links and images below as they show them, nor the testimonials on my front page. The page I’m working on is just a test to see if I can figure this out. Any help?

    Hm, okay. I have the capability to self-host a site, I guess I was just practicing with WordPress.com. Does that affect my question?

    jennyjunejohnson, I think some of your questions will be answered on this page:

    See the section marked Front Page Template and, down towards the bottom, a section called Testimonials.

    (I’m working with a self-hosted version of Sela, but I have been using that page as my orientation guide for the theme because Sela does not have a support page here on .ORG yet.)

    Maybe – if you are using a WordPress.COM theme on a self-hosted site, fine to post on these forums – we can tag your post so that a .COM support person can assist you.

    But if your site is ON WordPress.COM, you should use their support forums – as some things are different there. And these forums really aren’t able to provide support for WordPress.COM sites.

    Hi!

    I have exactly the same question as jennyjunejonhson – I have a self-hosted website, using wP.org and I have installed Sela outside of WP.com. The theme is an that easy to customize and recreating the front page as it shows in Sela demo is hard! So please help!:)
    My specific problem is this: I managed to created the 3 links under my featured image using widgets, but I cannot connect them to their respective pages, or add images. A step-by-step instruction would be very much appreciated!

    I am having the exact same issue, I am following the link that people have attached to their responses here but on my home page I have no page attributes when I click edit. Its really not clear how to create the page in the design of sela. Have you had any luck? Any advice would be appreciated ??
