Selected category to show on home page ?

How can i select which catergoryies to post on home page?
I have 5 catergories and i want only 3 of to beposted on the home page and the other 2 in 2 seperate pages which i made a custom templates for.
how do i query the othe 3 catergory to the home page ?hope you guys can help ?
if ther is a nother post about this please point me to it thanx
