• Hello ??

With the new GDPR, you have to have concent from customers to store personal data. I thought Age Gate plugin was a perfect way to handle concent.

I only need to restrict the checkout process. So I selected “Selected Content”. But then, where do I select the content that is supposed to be restricted?

I thought it might be a new option on page level editing, but it’s not there. I couldn’t find anything on this in the documentation.

    Help please ??

    Hi @petermunkholm,

You should have an option on the page you are trying to restrict in the publish box on the right of the content (screen shot).

If it’s not there, go to the Age Gate Access tab and just hit save and check again as occasionally it doesn’t find an option in there :/

As for using it for GDPR, I would definitely add an “Accept terms” check box on there, an example of that exact thing can be found here.

Let me know if that all works!

    Thanks
    Phil

Hi, I seem to be having the same issue. The checkbox to select specific content to age gate is not appearing in the Publish section. I’ve tried it with Posts, Pages, and Projects. I’ve tried with existing drafts and new documents. It never shows up.

I tried repeatedly saving the Restrictions and Access settings,r as you suggested above, to no avail.

I haven’t yet gone through the process of deactivating plugins to see if there are any conflicts. It’s an option though. Still, that’s something I normally do only when there are reported errors.

Can you provide any additional suggestions?

    Thanks,
    William

    Hi @looksharp,

Can you post a screenshot of where you’re expecting it to show? Will just make it easier for me to diagnose.

    Cheers

    Hi Phil,

Here’s a link to the screenshot you requested. I marked it up to show you about where I expect the Age Gate checkbox to be.

Do note, I have Gutenberg Demo plugin installed so my screenshot isn’t exactly the same as the one you posted, but it’s the same place. Perhaps Age Gate needs to be updated for Gutenberg?

Thanks for helping me out. I appreciate it.

    Wi William,

Yup, it’s Gutenberg that’s stopping it from showing as a lot of the filters you used to be able to use in the publish box have gone.

In the next release it’ll have a meta box option for Gutenberg and eventually I’ll then move it to a meta box as standard.

I was hoping to release that yesterday but didn’t get chance so hopefully it’ll be today.

Until then, you can use this link to get the current build:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/qosxpjs8vs00n5q/age-gate-2.1.0-rc3.zip?dl=0

There’ll be a warning message come up about it not being a full release. You can turn that off in the advanced tab. Also in the advanced tab, check the “Use meta box” option and it should show up.

Let me know how it goes

    Cheers

    Hi Phil,

I was just going to let you know that it is Gutenberg that’s the culprit. I was creating my first product in WooCommerce, which I just installed the other day and noticed that the Age Gate checkbox was there. WooCommerce doesn’t use Gutenberg (yet).

It’s getting late so I’ll download your current build tomorrow, unless you release it before I get to it.

Thanks for your help. Very much appreciated.

    Hi Phil,

When I tried installing the release candidate, I received the following error.

The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

    Please advise.

    Thanks, William

    Hmmm, odd.

I’ve just done the 2.1.0 release so you should be able to update from the admin area and get the features

    Thanks
    Phil

Cool! I’ll check. Thanks again for everything. Appreciate the excellent customer service.

    Works like a charm. Thanks!
