hi there. that’s not a bad idea, but I don’t know how WordPress is doing that so I wouldn’t be able to implement it quickly. If you want to take a look, I’m certainly open to pull requests on Github.

Nice! It seemed that I was doing that intentionally? I’m not certain why as my past self did not document the decision well. I think it’s because if a sub-category is checked, then it’s displayed at the top without it’s parent. Leaving the checked item matches the behavior of the regular checkbox, so that’s fine by me.
