Selling By Unit And Weight

  • Is there a way to sell a product by unit or weight in the same listing. E.g. Can I list apples and give the customer the option of either buying 5 apples or 1 kg of apples? I have only been able to find ways of listing either by weight or unit not by both.

    Hi there!

    You could achieve this through variable products, I think that would be the easiest way to achieve what you’re looking to do. The downside to that would be that you can’t let customers specify the exact weight they want, you would have to do that for them.

    Alternatively, you can make the weight based and the quantity based products individual products, then combine them with a plugin such as Product Bundles.

    I was hoping for something a bit more cleaner. Adding through the use of variable products means I also have to set units as a variation as well as weight. The customer needs to be able to enter as many units as they want and I don’t want to have to add 1,2,3,4 etc. as values for the unit attribute.
    What would be perfect is the option to include a drop down that includes the options “each” or “kilogram” and a text box that allows the customer to enter a number so that they can either buy 1 unit or 1kg. Does anyone know of a plugin that could achieve this?
