• I’m hoping this is a dumb question and that I missed something obvious, but her it goes:

I want to be able to sell my course to anyone visiting my site.

How do I set a course up (as a Woocommerce product or something), where someone who isn’t already a registered user on my website can still buy it and get access / get registered as a User (customer) on my WordPress?

    Hey there Torkel,

    How are you doing today?

This is not a dumb question at all, in fact it’s a pretty good one as this is unfortunately not possible out of a box considering how CoursePress is designed.

While CoursePress does have integration with WooCommerce selling courses to visitors is not possible as CoursePress requires registration in order to assign specific capabilities to users so they are able to access courses and also for further assessment and grading of those students.

    Best regards,

Well.. I might’ve just spent a few days setting up this course for nothing.

Do you know of any other plugin that will allow me to sell memberships to my wordpress site, so I can make the course in coursepress free, but set up a membership sign-up for my site?

    Hi Torkel,

I believe there was a misunderstanding here, or I misunderstood something ??

So let’s go a step back, you’re looking to allow users to purchase courses and during that process to register new account, you’re not actually looking to allow signing up to a course without creating an account, is that right?

Woocommerce does actually have an option to disable selling products to visitors, so even though they can see the product they want they would need to register in order to complete the purchase.

    Would this work for you?

    Cheers,
    Predrag

No, I want to sell the course to visitors. To anyone and everyone who wants it, without having to manually add them as users to my wordpress website before they can buy the course.

If this isn’t possible with coursepress, do you know of a work-around? Can you, for example, recommend a plugin that will let me sell memberships to my wordpress website that will automatically add them as WordPress users, so I don’t have to do it manually?

Hello Torkel, I hope you don’t mind me chiming in here: 0

without having to manually add them as users to my wordpress website before they can buy the course.

The CoursePress registration/enrolling process can be done from a visitors end, so you don’t need to add them manually at all. Users can register on your site by themesels.

First, you need to make sure that the registration is allowed on your site.

Step 1. From your Dashboard, navigate to Settings > General. From there, check the option “Anyone can register” and save changes. Screenshot.

Step 2. Navigate from Coursepress > Courses to edit your course details. On Step 6, under section Who can Enroll in this course celect Anyone. Please see the screenshot.

This way all users before byuing your course will register by themselfs on your site, without any action needed from your end.

As for the selling memberships, have a look at the Memebrship 2 plugin. With the Membership plugin you can protect your content and sell memberships type, like :

    • Recurring Membership
    • Dripped Content
    • Membership
    • Guest Membership

If you have any further questions, please let us know!

Yes, but I’d rather not my users have to FIRST register, and THEN sign up and pay for the course. That’s just bad logistics marketing wise. Ideally, the registration and payment should happen at the same time.

As far as I can tell, Membership 2 creates it’s own customer database? So.. if someone registers via Membership 2 – they won’t automatically be added to the WordPress Users list and give them access to the Coursepress course. Or am I wrong?

Hello @torkel, I hope you are doing well today!

In case you are selling courses with the WooCommerse, you can skip the default CoursePress registration process, and use the one that WooCommerce have.

Make sure that visitor will land first on a product page and buy the course, add a product to a cart and proceed to checkout. It is very important that all users must create an account once they purchase a course so they could start learning with CoursePress.

    I hope this will help!

    Cheers,
    Nastia
