Selling single-use passwords as products
-
We are in the process of setting up our online store, and it’s a bit of a complicated situation.
The “product” we are selling is a package that includes an online assessment and some additional downloadable resources. Our testing platform allows us to generate a link that anyone can use to take the assessment. To prevent anyone from sending the link to others, I can generate a file of single-use passwords and provide one to each person.
I’ve been thinking about how to do that and have come up with two potential approaches.
Option A is preferable but I’m not sure if it’s possible. Is there any way to have this set up as one product, where once each person buys the product they are provided a unique password from the list?
Option B, which seems more likely but would be a lot of work, is to instead add each set of instructions (including the password) as a separate downloadable product with a quantity of 1, and then when someone buys one it’s out of stock so no one else can buy that specific one.
If I go with Option B, is it possible to set it up to display only one at a time so there’s not a list of 50 or 100 things that all look the same but have a different password in the download file?
