    Hello,

Recently just installed the free version. Our SEO team sent a report from SEMRush saying there are now several warnings on the website. All the warnings are pointing to unminified js and css on the Event Pages we create. Please advise.

Hi @dyesol, appreciate you providing us details here with the warnings. For me to replicate the issue and help you better I would need more information here.

    Could you provide the following?
    1. WordPress Version
    2. The Events Calendar Version
    3. PHP Version
    4. Direct URL to your Events Page?

I am also curious, are you using some kind of modification or caching third-party plugin?

Looking forward to helping you figure this one out.
    Have a great day.

    Best,
    Abz

    Hi @abzlevelup

    1. WordPress Version – 5.9.3
    2. The Events Calendar Version – 5.16.2.1
    3. PHP Version – 7.4.30
    4. Direct URL to your Events Page? – Currently this is on our development environment which has whitelist protection enabled. I can send you a screenshot of the events page if that helps?

Yes, the website uses WP Rocket for caching.

Hi @dyesol, thanks for getting back to me here with more information. Seems like it has something to do with the setting in your WP Rocket, could you try following this article here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/using-the-events-calendar-with-wp-rocket/. This would help you with the caching and modification setting tailored to The Events Calendar Plugin.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi @abzlevelup

Thank you for sending over the documentation.

Currently the website is not using the file optimization or CDN from WP Rocket. I did notice in the documentation it states “Our plugins already serve minified assets”.

Could this be an error on SEMRush’s (Our SEO tool and what is currently flagging the issue) part? If the assets already come minified and WP Rocket is not interfering, not sure what else could be creating this warning in SEMRush.

Hi @dyesol, no worries, thanks for getting back to me here as well. Probably something on SEMRush’s end, could you check back again with them? Moreover, could you try and deactivate the WP Rocket, and see if that makes a difference? As always, just to be safe, please do create a staging site and keep a working backup of your website.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi @abzlevelup

Thank you very much for your help trying to figure this out. I found an additional article here – https://www.semrush.com/kb/956-unminified-files – from SEMRush that talks about unminified files.

    In the article it states:
“Please note that our tool is a harsher critic than even Google at this time. We have reported errors even after a webpage passes Google’s page speed test. This is due to the thorough design of our check. If this issue doesn’t affect your page load time, simply ignore it.”

I went ahead and ran the event pages through Google’s PageSpeed Insights test and none of the pages were flagged as having unminified files. Additionally I did a test with the SEO team, and the load time of the pages is under our current target.

I believe this is a false positive from SEMRush’s SEO tool and have advised our SEO team to disregard those warnings.
