I want to automatically send a notification email whenever new post is published, but can’t seem to be able to configure this. Where exactly do I need to go and what are the settings I need to enter? Does it send straight away?

    Many thanks in advance.

Update: I think I’ve found it under Mail Configuration >> Post Count

    @bw3em
No, I had the same interrogation and I concluded that I have to rather use the Post Notification for this. I also disabled the Mail Configuration examples that were using the templates.

I think that Post Notification does the job and it’s enough.

Let me know if you found another solution.

Yes, that’s exactly how I ended up doing it. I disabled everything else as Post Notification is all I needed. All working very well now ??

    Great plugin!

Great, I did the same and looks really nice.
It’s a pity there is no support and documentation is often misleading.

I have seen the plugin author respond occasionally to bugs. But you’re right about support. That seems to be left up to the community to do. Post Notification is the right option to use for what you’re doing. I use it as well, but only on a specific type of custom post. So it’s configurable enough.

One known issue is that somehow the plugin “loses” its cron schedule. I can’t explain why and the only way to fix it is to deactivate and reactivate the plugin. Thankfully that doesn’t cause any data loss.

    Thanks for this, well noted.
I think I’ll setup a cPanel cron for that.

Did you, by any chance, find how to add an “unsubscribe” link to messages?

    Indeed I did.

In Plugin Settings on the Messages tab, in the Unsubscribe Text in Mail box, I have:

No longer interested in video alerts from Grace Communion International?. Please <a href='###LINK###'>click here</a> to remove yourself.

Is there a way to have an unsubscribe option on the website? Or only in emails that you know of?

From looking at the code, though I haven’t gone through all of it, it appears the only widget/shortcode they have is the subscribe one. I do not see any way to unsubscribe from the web.

The link it puts in the email includes db= and guid=, which are parameters you wouldn’t be able to easily duplicate in a self-written widget.

My assessment is sorry, you’re out of luck on that one.

That said, you could hop over to gopiplus.com and use his contact form to ask for a new feature…

Excellent answer and idea, thank you. I will let you know if I’m successful ??

Why not use the same as @bretmiller pointed out above in the widgets description field?
Maybe this field doesn’t accept html?

@dsl225, I don’t think that will work because the ###LINK### variable is handled per individual in the outgoing email processing and includes parameters you would need besides the email address. That said, I haven’t verified if those parameters are email-specific, or list-specific as I only have one email address subscribed to the messages. If I had 2, I could see if the other parameters (db=, guid=) are constant between subscribers. It’s possible they could identify the list to remove a subscriber from, rather than the subscriber.

Thanks, you are right, needs testing.
It might be a generic link that opens a page where you have to enter your email you want to unsubscribe but I doubt as this would be accessible to anyone being able to unsubscribe anyone else.
