The best way to handle string swaps is not to modify the plugin directly, but to activate and use a translation file and then change it in the file (only). This is easier to maintain (make sure you have a backup of this file before upgrade!) than changes in the plugin.

Ignore all the bits about translating all the strings to a new language, since you’re only changing one.
