Hi, I have just started using Lifter and am wondering about how to send an email to a student when a lesson is complete. I can see in Settings->Notifications that there is an option for Lesson Complete, but when I click on Email, Student is not one of the pre-definted options for a Subscriber. (There is only Lesson Author and Course Author.)

There is an option for Additional Recipients, and I tried {{student_email}} and {student_email} there, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Note that I do receive the email as the Course author, so I know that the email is working.

I am aware that I can create an email engagement, and I can select “Student completes a lesson” as an event, but it wants me to select a particular lesson. With 365 lessons in our Course I would much prefer to figure out how to get the Notification to work.

    Any advice is much appreciated!

  • Hi @jenbarlow88

Unfortunately, at this time we don’t have an option in Notifications to send an email to the student when they complete a lesson. The only option would be for engagements.

    Apologies for the inconvenience!

Thank you for your reply Natalie. That’s unfortunate that there isn’t an option to send an email when a lesson is complete. Hopefully that will be an option added in the future.

I am not able to get the email notification to work with the engagement, though. I do receive the admin version, but I do not receive the student version.

I have an Engagement set up with “Student Completes a lesson” as the triggering event. I have an Email Engagement set up, which I select as the engagement. When setting up the email, I select a lesson to test, and clicked on Merge Codes to select the student email.

Thank you for any advice you can offer! If there is a way I can send screen shots I’d be happy to do so.

    Hi @jenbarlow88,

For this the main thing you want to check is if the email is getting queued in the site or not.

The best way to check this would be with WP Mail Logging. If the email shows up in the log then this means it is firing correctly on the site but not getting sent on the host end.

If it is not showing up then there is an error on the site, and we can continue troubleshooting from there!

Let us know if you have any further questions!
