• has anyone seen this? I saw this blog that had an option to send the photo as an ecard.
    https://www.urbanpug.com

I’ve viewed the source and it looks like a php script using a form mailer. Unfortunatly, the author was in New Orleans so I don’t want to bother him with the question.

    Any thoughts?

  • It looks like he’s using Sendcard, an open sourced PHP e-card sending program. I’ve used this program a long time ago and had some problems with it. It’s proabbly a lot more mature now though!

Thanks.. I was actually on that site but wasn’t sure if it would integrate with the blog.. I’ll give it whirl..

what kind of problems did you have?

    Jen

Nothing serious – I just remember the installation being unessesarily complex and that I could probably build my own solution faster. Knowing me I probably gave up before it was completely working.

Cool… thanks! I’ll let you all know how I do

I’ve used Sendcard. It works very well, and will be even better now, with a later release. When you select an image to send as an ecard, you are taken to the Sendcard files, which I think will need to remain outside WordPress as such, but on the same server.

Excellent… first hand knowledge… do you have somewhere I can test it out?

Sorry, I don’t give out that particular URL because it’s an adult site, but I can assure you that SendCard works very well. On their website they list other sites using SendCard, so you could try those maybe.

But I don’t see how it can integrate with WordPress as such. It’s an entirely separate installation (though I suppose the same database would be fine). You can of course place “send as card” type buttons within your WordPress posts and pages but then the user is taken into SendCard. After the card is sent, you can add a link back into WordPress.

    Fair enough…

I suppose if I do that, I might as well use the Coppermine Ecard option.. although I may have to change my settings… hrrmrm…

This might be getting to complicated… !!! I’m really a Noob!

    Thanks!
