  • What version of Firefox? Are you running any adblockers or similar sorts of FF extensions?

I’m having the same problem, as well as a couple other minor issues with the admin interface (i.e. the rich edit tools won’t show up anymore). The other minor issues showed up when I upgraded to wordpress 2.0, but I’d never tried using images before, so as far as I know, the send to editor function might never have worked.

I’m using Firefox 1.5.0.6 and I have Adblock installed, but it’s set to whitelist everything on my site, so it shouldn’t be interfering. (In fact, I’m almost positive it isn’t, since it was at first and I had to shut it off to stop the problems.)

Other extentions I’m running are NoScript (also disabled on my site), FlashBlock, Google Toolbar, Deepest Sender, Foxmarks, BugMeNot and Gmail Skins. I can’t imagine any of those would have an effect–?

    Thanks for your help,
    PD

Well personally, I’d turn ’em all off and see how the editor works. Assuming that fixes things, then turn on ’em back on one by one. Then you’d know for sure.

Turning off all the adblock and related Firefox extentions had no effect. I even uninstalled them just to be sure; no dice.

And by the way, I’m having the same problem with Internet Explorer, too — it throws a “syntax error” and does nothing.

Would really like help with this if possible!

    Thanks,
    PD

I upgraded from 2.0.3 and now am having the same problem in IE and Firefox. IE shows an error on the page. Firefox shows javascript: void() when I roll over Send To Editor.

Has anyone identified this as a bug?

Has anyone figured out a workaround? How can I manually find out the image filenames and insert them into a post? This will ruin me!

I was missing a bunch of files in my wp-includes/js folder. That fixed it for me.

(although my quicktags are still not showing up in my HTML editor)

I just went through and replaced every file in my wp-includes/js folder with a fresh copy, and checked all the permissions, and I still have the same problem. When I hover over the “send to editor” link, it says “javascript(void)” in the bottom toolbar, and when I click it, nothing happens.

More help, please! Or a workaround — I just want to be able to use images!

    Thanks,
    PD

The “javascript(void)” in the bar is absolutely normal.

As for the rest, I’d say that your browser is unable to get the relevant JS files from the server when you load the page, for some reason.

Try clearing the browser cache and such, and of course, again double check that the JS files on the server are correct and not incomplete or some such thing.

Cleared the cache in both Firefox and IE; re-uploaded all wp-includes/js files from a freshly-downloaded copy and checked all permissions; and it’s still doing the same thing in both browsers.

    Darnit!

This seems to be a description of this bug.

However, it doesn’t seem to apply to me. My wordpress install is in the root of my domain (/var/www/html), and in the “Options” page all of the URIs are set to https://www.puredoxyk.com, which is the domain root. So I’m not forwarding to a different URI. Grr! For a minute there I thought I’d figured it out!

Hi, Sorry to be so verbose but as this is a critical issue for me, I’d really appreciate if someone could tell me, if not how to fix it, then at least how to work around it. Is there a URL I can use in a hand-typed “img” tag that will let me display the images I’ve uploaded, even with the “send to editor” function broken? I’ve tried a couple guesses, but none of them have worked. FYI, my uploads are going to the “upload” folder with no subfolders, and as I mentioned above, all of my wordpress files are in my site’s root folder as of now. Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide!

I have exactly the same problem. let me know if hear of a fix.

Try the Image Manager plugin from https://soderlind.no. Or use the Windows Live Writer applet from https://g.msn.com/8SEENUS030000TBR/WriterMSI – either of these works far better than this sort of thing “inbuilt” in wp.

I present a workaround to that problem here:

Stefan21, I do not know where to put the target blank thing you speak of. I don’t understand why there isn’t much documentation for this bug. It is so weird because my buttons were there like 4 hours ago!!!?
