My business sells solely digital eBooks and workshops, and we’re building a fairly large site, migrating from my old SS site and moving everything from Teachable etc.

I have quite a large volume of customers and sales, and am looking for an easy or streamlined way to notify customers when a product has been updated, so they can download the latest version. I know there were a couple of plug-ins available that did this but:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ns-sending-update-email/
this one no longer seems supported, and it looks like it CC’s every customer instead iof BCing them all (i.e. everyone is exposed to everyone’s email address, which is no good)

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/notify-email-customers-product-update/
and this one has been discontinued.

Are there any other plug-ins available that I’ve not found? It seems weird in this day and age with so many digital sellers that there isn’t something available to send update notifications to customers.

Or is there a way to notify customers of updates using existing tools in Woo?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi @woollywormead,

Unfortunately, WooCommerce does not have this feature built-in. Did you try the WooCommerce Notify Updated Product, Additional Custom Emails for WooCommerce or Custom email per product for WooCommerce plugin?

However, based on your requirements, I’d recommend checking out the AutomateWoo plugin. With AutomateWoo, you can easily set up automated workflows to send customers emails when a product has been updated. It’s a powerful tool to help you manage customer communications more effectively.

Also, if you’re moving everything from Teachable, you may want to consider using the Sensei or Tutor LMS plugin. It’s a robust elearning platform that seamlessly integrates with WooCommerce, allowing you to sell online courses directly from your site. This could be a great way to streamline your operations even further.

I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this gets you going in the right direction to get the job done.

    Thanks for your reply!

I’ve been looking at AutomateWoo and trying to work it out if it’s functionality will do what I need.

It looks like the ‘Add Note to Order’ trigger could work for what I need, if I could add notes to bulk orders in one go, then send an email based on that – the note/email could simply let customers know the PDF/eBook has been updated, and to use their original download link to access it. The plug-in does have other features which I could use too, so it’d be fantastic if it could work this way.

For the eLearning side, my web dev has recommened LearnDash so we have that installed, so I think we’re covered, but I’ll check the others out as well.

Thanks for recommending something that was already on my radar, it’s reassuring to know I was looking in the right place!

    Hi @woollywormead,

I’m glad to hear that you’re considering AutomateWoo. It’s indeed a powerful tool, and the “Add Note to Order” trigger should work for your needs. However, if you have a valid license, you can open a support request with us. We will be able to help you further there.

As for the eLearning aspect, if you have already installed LearnDash and it meets your requirements, that’s great! Sensei and Tutor LMS are also good alternatives to consider, but the choice ultimately depends on your specific needs and preferences.

I’m pleased to know that our recommendations align with your research. I will mark this thread as resolved. Should you have further inquiries, kindly create a new topic here.

Meanwhile, if it isn’t too much to ask for – would you mind leaving us a review here?

It only takes a couple of minutes but helps us tremendously. It would mean so much to us and would go a really long way.

    Thanks!
