Have setup and configured the plugin with no issues. I was using wp-better-emails to brand my emails but saw that sendgrid has this built in.

I’ve created, and activated, a template on sendgrid. But having tested sending emails via WordPress the template is not being applied, even though its the only template. What gives?

    Side Notes:

    – I too have spotted that sending a test email via the SMTP option in the admin area, sends the test email to the logged in users email address not the email address entered in the “to” field. When set to API the email is sent to the supplied sender address correctly.

    – It would be really useful to have some basic replacement tags in the template engine such as date, time and senders email address so we can dynamically inject into the template when the email was sent (for the users benefit)

    – Would be great to have OAuth / API keys rather than username / password being used for account integration. This is asking for accounts to be compromised!

Thanks for your suggestions. We will consider it for the next versions.

    hi reflectgrowth,

Were you able to get the SendGrid template emails to send with your HTML branding, specifically the standard new user registration emails? Or did you find a work around using a plugin?

I am also using wp=better-emails plugin to brand SMTP emails, but want to move over to SendGrid API emails, and need the standard WP emails, and plugins that send emails through WP, to include my branding with HTML.

Also does SendGrid provide a way to change the URL link in new registration emails? WP automatically includes a link the WP dashboard instead of a login page on the site.

    Greatly appreciate any insight.

To make it work, I enabled the legacy template on Settings > Mail Settings.
Now every email goes with the same template. No need to set anything in the plugin.

The to issue with smtp method and the API key authentication were added to the plugin. Let us know if you have other issues. Thanks for your feedback!

Just popped back onto the #teamSendGrid after Mandrill decided to remove all free accounts. Great to see you’ve implemented the suggestions above, now hooked up with an API Key and using the template id! Awesome work!
