Well, I see from the FAQ page that post updates do not trigger an outgoing email. Drat! That is precisely what I want to do.

How can I achieve this pls? (I don’t want to save the updated post as a duplicate post; it’ll mess up the URLs.)

One workaround I’ve thought of is to create a separate new post when I do an update, linking back to the updated post. Clunky and time-consuming, though.

I need help pls. There must be a workable solution.

    Many thanks! ??

P.S. Suppose I use a redirect Plugin? Old post was called Happy-Monday; I update this post and then rename it (eg Happy-MOnday-2). Would this trigger a Post Notification email pls? Thank you!

===7. What happens when I update a post?
Updating a post doesn’t trigger the Post Notification. If you want to re-send an already published post, you’ll need to publish it as a new post.

    Hi there @debrawhite,

    Thanks for reaching out!

You are right, updating a post doesn’t trigger the Post Notification.

One workaround I’ve thought of is to create a separate new post when I do an update, linking back to the updated post. Clunky and time-consuming, though.

This could work yes. I understand it’s time-consuming but I don’t see any other ways of achieving what you want with the built-in functionality.

However, it might be possible with some custom code. If you need help with custom code, you can reach out to someone from Codeable: https://codeable.io.

This is built that way for a purpose though – sending multiple Post Notification emails with the same posts (even though they have been updated) will likely lead to more spam complaints.

If you think there are cases where it makes sense to trigger the Post Notification when updating a post, you’re also welcome to add it as a suggestion here https://feedback.mailpoet.com

Our team will take it into account when discussing new features and improvements for the plugin ??
