    Hi Folks,
Firstly, the site is in maintenance mode right now while under construction.
Did briefly enable the site to see if that was an issue but no.

Tried all settings to no avail.
    Using WP Version Version 5.2.2–en_GB
    Events Manager Version 5.9.5
WP Mail SMTP Version Version 1.5.2 (which IS working)

Clicking ‘Test Email Setting’s appears to do absolutely nothing.

Look forward to hearing from you.
    Cheers

    Hi Folks,
Installed this on another site and have exactly the same issue.
Same versions as before. Clicking ‘Test Email Settings’ appears to do absolutely nothing.
This site is active so I could create a login for you if required.
Look forward to hearing from you.

    Hello,

We haven’t received any feedback on what “mail sending method” you’re using. You can check this under “Events > Settings > Emails > Email Settings”, By default EM uses WP Mail.

In case WP Mail doesn’t work on your Site, You could change the setting to something that your Server works. You can check about the documentation here: https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/mail-settings/

Under “Events > Settings > Emails”, Please make sure that you have entered a valid Email Address on the fields that ask for Emails. Sometimes users forgot to add an email address on the fields.

    Hi @scotlandswebdesign,
    EM User here too ??

Are you sending HTML emails? If so, please test by changing that to plain text. If plain text emails do get through, the problem lies within EM.

EM does not add a plain text version to HTML emails. More and more email providers find this absence a sign of spam and are blocking them.

If sending the plain text version emails does work for you, you might want to check out my free EM add-on. One of the features is creating the plain text version for HTML EM emails. ?? https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/events-manager-email-users/

Thanks for the update, tried every combination of settings and we always only use txt for emails. Also tried the email plugin without any luck.
Can’t spend any more time on this so will find an alternative.
Shame as it is excellent otherwise.
    Thanks

    Hi Mac,

Hmmm, very sorry to hear that!
I find it strange that none of the settings in EM want to work. On a localhost wp_mail() will (almost) never work, but SMTP should always work, anywhere.

If you can use the email account on your desktop and/or phone, the exact same credentials should also work in WordPress.

When you set the email settings to SMTP, the PHPMailer module within WP will echo errors (if any) if sending fails. That could give you more insight than wp_mail() will.

One thing though… (Just popped into my head) with my email provider I can set two ports for SMTP sending. For SSL/TLS secure settings, use port 465 and non-secure is port 26.
My normal email runs on the secure port, but WordPress will only work with SMTP port 26.

Have you tried that as well? ??

    Hi Thanks for the feedback.
Clicking the test button appears to do nothing at all, no action, no error message etc. Tried using all combinations.
We use the WP Mail SMTP plugin on many sites and this works with secure (465) ports without any problem, including on this site.
    Not to worry.
    Thanks again
    Mac
