sending error mandrill bluehost

    Hello there,
    Hope somebody could help me.
    I’m trying to use Mandrill smtp service (as suggested in wysija guideline ) just to avoid blacklist problems with my bluehost smtp service.

    Unfortunatly the mandrill smtp service seems to have problems with bluehost, that probably lock the ports that mandrill use to delivery emails.
    I tryed with port 587 and also whith 25 , 26 w/o success
    here below the error I have:

    Errore invio SMTP funziona con Wysija a [email protected] | SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host. |
    Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to smtp.mandrillapp.com:26 (Connection timed out) in /xxx/xxx/xxx_html/wp-xxx/plugins/wysija-newsletters/inc/phpmailer/class.smtp.php on line 123

    can you please help me out?

  • This is an issue that you have to contact Bluehost about. I believe that they only allow incomming connections to be made to ports 25 and 26, so only if Mandrill would connect to Bluehost, but not the other way around.

    Contact Bluehost support to confirm this. Calling them is the least amount of wait, but you can chat to them from their homepage if you can wait a little longer.

    As BH_WP_Guru pointed it might issue with BlueHost blocking the ports.

    I’m having the same issue. So far I’ve contacted random people on the net looking for answers, it seems there’s a few of us trying the same thing.

    So far no luck… have you figured this out already?

    Only your host can help you with that.

    Otherwise you can also use our webAPI integration we have with SendGrid the only thing is that you’ll need to switch to SendGrid :
