Sending images in email

This might be a tall order, but we’re using the BuddyPress Activity Plus plugin for groups. When someone posts an image, it just sends out a an email like this:

[bpfb_images]
170_0-99303200-1439415785_capture.jpg
[/bpfb_images]”

Is it possible to either NOT send these at all, or attach the image? Would take a hack i’m sure, just not sure where to look/start.
