No emails are sent for a contact form. It is configured so that the person who has filled out the form and the operator of the website (not the admin of the site) receives an email.

My customer has copied a contact form and only changed the recipient.
Now I have noticed that no mails are arriving here. However, there is a success message on the form.

I have installed WP Mail SMTP to find the problem.

    The following is reported:
PHPMailer was able to connect to SMTP server but failed while trying to send an email.

You can also send test mails via the plugin, this was successful.

In the form settings, I made sure that the specified sender matches the URL, as this can also cause problems.

If you need more information, please let me know. The website is up to date and uses PHP 8.0 .

Sidefact: I have had similar problems with sending emails with other customers. Have there been any new features that cause problems?

    Thanks! Monique

    Hi there,

This is an unusual issue – your SMTP plugin reported that it was able to connect, but failed to send. This indicates that Formidable is generating the message and passing it on for sending, and the issue is happening afterwards.

To help diagnose the issue and determine if anything on your site is interfering with Formidable, we recommend following the steps in this guide for what we call a “clean test” to rule out any possible conflicts:?https://formidableforms.com/knowledgebase/what-plugins-are-known-to-cause-conflicts/#kb-how-to-find-a-conflict

We understand that testing like this on a live site can be challenging, so we suggest creating a copy of your site (a staging site) and performing the testing on that. You can create a staging site by copying your site using free plugins like All in One WP Migration or Duplicator, or by asking your host to create a staging site for you.

If you have any questions about this or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re here to help.

    Best regards,
    Nathanael

    Hey Nathanael,

I created a local copy of the site and so that I could test it, I used an SMPT server of my web host (not that of the site, which runs via another web host to which I have no access because the customer manages it himself).

Once I had set everything up, I did some basic testing to see if it worked. This time the mail is sent. There are differences in the server and the database version. Can I post this here or is there a private message option for this?

    Regards,
    Monique

I’m using the Lite Version, and it looks like that I need an account to write a ticket.

    Hi Monique,

I got the notification email, but it looks like wp.org removed your comment for some reason.

You can open a presale ticket in our helpdesk and send that information again if you want – but comparing it to your your other site where emails are not working may be useful.

Also, since the error seems to be with the SMTP plugin reporting that it was able to connect, but failed to send, and not actually an issue with Formidable Forms, reaching out to the support team for your SMTP plugin is probably the best way to get your issue resolved.

    Best,

    Hey Nathanael,

Thanks, I will try it by the other plugin support!
