sending one email instead of to upon signup

Hi there,

First of all I wan to note how much value you are offering for a free plug in, very refreshing to see, respect!

now to my question I ma sing you sign up form for buddy press, everything seems to be working fine but upon registration you get two different emails, one like welcome and one with the actual verification. Can the first one be canceled and only send the second? I think it is a little confusing. but also a little wasteful on the email side. I see the second one is not customizable, is that the reason to have two?
