• The first issue is that the send email page enforces selection of at least one ‘To’ email address. This is not how one would normally send a mass mailout – all the recipients should be able to be specified as BCC.

However far worse is that the shortcodes in the mails sent to BCC recipients are populated with the details of the ‘To:’ recipient. In other words, if a mail is sent ‘to’ firstname Steve with ‘bcc’ John and Mary a ‘Dear [[first-name]]’ at the start of the body would read ‘Dear Steve’ in each of the three emails.

The BCC feature is thus unusable in the product as it stands. Please correct these issues urgently.

    Release 1.6.6 running on WordPress 5.1.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, php 7.2.1, MySQL 5.7

    Hello @grl570810,

BCC is used as a “Blind Carbon Copy” i.e you are not sending the mail to that person, you are just keeping track by sending mail to BCC person.
If you want that their name should appear in shortcode then you have to add them to the “Send To” field.

    Hi Techspawn,
Thanks for the quick response. But if you use ‘to:’ isn’t every mail address in the list visible to everyone else? Surely you don’t want that? Every mass mailer I’ve used to date always sends to the list using ‘bcc:’ so that no-one can see the other recipients, plus you avoid the dreaded ‘reply to all’.
    Regards,
    Graham

    Hello @grl570810,

when you send mail to multiple users through “To:”, at that time our plugin works same as “BCC” So, there is no need to send emails via ‘BCC’ to avoid ‘reply all’ in mass mailing and also shortcodes will work properly.
