I have been working with this awesome plugin for about a year, and while I love it, I’ve had many problems with it. Right now when I fill a form and click send, the fields clear, the form does not send (no e-mails) and I get none of the messages that are setup (field is missing, message sent etc).

here is a test form I made on my site followed by some information:

    https://scienceeast.nb.ca/page-sorter/testcf7/

    site hosted by godaddy windows
    WP 4.3.1
    CF7 4.3

    auxiliary plugins:
    Contact Form 7 – PayPal Add-on
    Contact Form 7 Datepicker
    Contact Form DB (database)

    Things I’ve tried:
    1) disabling JQ through wp-contact-form-7.php using
    define( ‘WPCF7_LOAD_JS’, false)

    2) deactivating all auxiliary plugins

    3) deactivating/reactivating uninstalling/reinstalling CF7, and an older version (4.2)

    4) trying different browsers

    5) trying different operating systems

    6) pulling hair out and smashing keyboard ?? (part 6 was the most fun)

I am not a developer, but am willing to entertain any suggestions. Thank you anyone that replies whether it helps or not!

Try deactivating all other plugins and switching to the default theme (twentyfifteen).

Good idea, I’ll try later tonight when traffic is down. Any other ideas are welcome in the meantime!

I deactivated all plugins and went back to twenty-fifteen. I then erased browsing history. Still the same situation ?? How could this be possible?

@iuritronic1989 – As per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. I’ll be watching out for your question to offer you a possible solution.

Posting in an existing topic and taking over the original posters question is generally considered inappropriate. Added to which, your problem – despite any similarity in symptoms – is likely to be completely different.

Thank you for your help everyone. Sadly this issue still is not resolved. I would love to continue trouble-shooting this problem as I am aware it has happened to many before me and it is still happening to others after me. I have a lot invested in CF7 and will continue to do so if we can fix this issue.

I just added another plugin called “check e-mail” which sends a test e-mail. That worked fine, so I don’t think it’s an e-mail related issue. This is a catastrophic failure of the plugin. Not saying that it’s the plugin’s fault, I have no idea what part of the whole machine isn’t working, but it leads to my whole website working minus CF7.

I want to contact my host (godaddy) but have no idea what to say to them… listen, my whole website is working beautifully minus one plugin. I have no idea why. Can you fix it? Doesn’t seem fair to them.

I feel like I need something to bring to the table to help them out.

    Hi mendel,

I did e-mail you 5 days ago but have received no information from you yet. I Hope your offer still stands. I e-mailed you again today. I am hoping this is not just godaddy trying to look good ?? Cheers!

Hey sciuser1, I’ll respond here instead of our email thread. Thanks for bearing with the late reply as I was spending some time with family last week.

This issue has already been addressed in another thread… here’s the excerpt “Log into your cPanel and hit MX Entry > Email Routing > Remote Mail Exchanger (instead of Local Mail Exchanger).”

If you need additional help getting this to work, hit up the number, email, or live chat at https://godaddy.com/pro (it’s different support than regular GoDaddy support).

Let us know your progress on this thread. ??

    Hi Mendel,

Thank you for getting back to me. As I posted though I am with godaddy windows, which means I am running plesk rather than cPanel. I will look for something similar though, but not overly familiar with either plesk or cPanel. I’ll keep you posted.

Ah, got it sciuser1. Our GoDaddy Pro support probably has the right answer for you. Please contact and post what you find here. In the meantime, I’ll reach out to engineering and see if there are any other angles.

Here are my settings for MX (Mail exchanger)

    5 records ( 0 selected)

    priority Points to
    20 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
    30 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
    10 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
    40 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM
    50 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM

Not sure if that means I am local or remote, and how to change it.
Also, I tried a plugin which sends e-mail from our website and it worked. So e-mails can work, maybe I am just not meeting those conditions in CF7.

    Additional info:

I installed and tried out ninja forms and formidable forms and both forms do the same thing as CF7 so I can say with some confidence that this is not a CF7 problem.

The only way I got any of my forms to submit was with an available option in ninja form that reads: “submit via AJAX (without page reload)?”. When I clicked this on, my form actually sent a submission to ninja forms. In addition, I set it up so that e-mails would be sent, and e-mails have been sent.

E-mails can be sent and I really think this is a Jquery/javascript/ajax thing (and I get all of those confused but…) What a mess, could really use a pro here to help figure this out.

@ifyouwillit great tip! But some GoDaddy users – those using Managed WordPress – don’t have access to cPanel – what do you suggest in that case?

@sciuser1 The remote mail exchanger does not support authentication at Google, so Google may mark your email as Spam, or blackhole it. Since you’re using Gmail, you might want to try the Gmail API instead of SMTP. GoDaddy does not block that port.

Hey all– I haven’t heard about this issue happening with anything other than cPanel. Trying to track down some answers now (for instance, I use forms on my website on Managed WordPress and don’t have any issues).
