• We recently had an unfortunate experience with the Mail Mint email marketing plugin, and we feel compelled to share our story to help others avoid similar issues. As a growing startup, we value our early users immensely and strive to maintain a high standard of communication with them. Unfortunately, our experience with the Mail Mint plugin has been far from satisfactory.

The primary issue we faced was an error in the plugin’s functionality, leading to unauthorized emails being sent to our users without our consent. When importing users into MailChimp, we encountered problems with the API not processing the data correctly. After manually importing the users and selecting the “Subscribed” status, the plugin automatically changed their status to “Pending” and sent out emails. This error not only caused confusion among our users but also exposed confidential email addresses.

When we reached out to the Mail Mint team for assistance, they responded by downplaying the situation and suggesting that the issue was merely a misunderstanding on our part. They implied that we were ignorant in our use of their plugin, rather than taking responsibility for the evident malfunction.

As a European company, we are well-versed in privacy regulations, and we expect the same understanding from the services we use. The unauthorized email sent by the Mail Mint plugin not only confused our users but also damaged our credibility and reputation as a business. Despite our efforts to resolve the issue, the Mail Mint team has continued to dismiss our concerns and offered inadequate compensation for the problems caused by their plugin.

In summary, our experience with the Mail Mint plugin has been disappointing due to the poor functionality, unauthorized actions, and unsatisfactory response from their support team. We urge potential users to consider alternative email marketing solutions that provide better functionality, customer support, and respect for privacy regulations.

Hi @lamarrbits , we are sorry that you had an unsatisfactory experience with Mail Mint. However, I would like to clarify a few things:

    1. If you went through the setup wizard or via plugin settings to add your company details, then it should get saved. If it wasn’t getting saved, then we would expect you to reach us in support as it is an unusual issue. I’m sure we could have found an easy solution. (It’s most likely due to wp-admin cache being enabled on the website.)
    2. Yes, the plugin is only available in English right now. We mentioned before that the plugin is yet to be translation supported.
    3. Double opt-in emails are a mandatory feature for any email marketing tool. And by default, it is enabled in the plugin.
      – Now, while importing contacts, if you marked the status as Pending (see image), it means the contacts were not confirmed, and so the double opt-in emails will be sent.
      – To avoid this, you may either disable double opt-in emails from the plugin settings (see image) or import contacts with “Subscribed” status (see image).

I clearly understand that explaining these doesn’t change the fact that your leads got an email unannounced. But I’m sure you can see that it was simply a misunderstanding due to not testing the plugin out before using it with live contacts.

We always advise users to first test it out with dummy contacts and understand the plugin features before using it on a live site with real contacts.

I would earnestly request you to give us a second chance on the matter because we are prepared to help you out with this and are confident the plugin works quite well.

So, if you would reach out to us in support and let us help you out, we will do our best to earn your trust and possibly get an improved rating.

    Do let us know.

    Thanks.
