I test one multisite installation with mu domain mapping plugin and it creates duplicate domains for each of the sites. Even if I enable redirection from the wp subdomain to the toplevel domain, this is not what i want want. I fear that this is not good for seo. Can I completely disable the wp subdomain and have the toplevel domain appear in every place in the network dashboard.

    Sorry for my english.

  • Just make sure that you use a SEO plugin that sets the canonical tag on the site, and you won’t have any problems. Pretty much all of them can do that in one way or another, so just choose the one that you like the most.

We don’t use a seo plugin for performance. All seo is created in all our themes. The canonical link is created by wordpress in all the single installations. Is there a problem with that canonical link? Is it wrong perhaps? Please, this is important, thank you for the help.

Do you suggest to import single installations to one multisite? Is it good for performance or worse than our current single installs? We must take a decision for our server plan soon and I am caring for performance, system resources and cost. Thanks!!

For some sentences I use a translator. Please forgive.

I couldn’t say without seeing it. As long as it’s set to the main domain, you should be fine.

That’s a completely un-related question. But… From my own point of view, unless I needed to share users, I would use single installations as those are easier to backup, move and generally work with. However, if you want a single installation so you don’t have to worry about all of the administration for individual sites, then a network is a good idea.

As far as server load and resources, that will vary depending on how you set things up, so it’s really going to need you to do some testing and see how your systemd work for yourself.

I am sorry about the unrelated question Sir. I will add the resolved option to this thread. Thank you for the help.

I am not able to give a link of the live sites in public. The test multisite site is on vmware. I will make it accessible through the internet in the weekend and post the link at that time.

Can wordpress create a false canonical link? I googled it because I was worried but I am not sure I found any problem about the default canonical link. Can you give me an example?

The multisite or single instalation is a difficult decision. I think I will finally keep the current multiple single wordpress sites for another year.

As long as the canonical tag points back to the correct URL, everything is OK. That’s all that is needed.
