SEO Help with Newsup Pro Theme

Hello – There are a couple of issues I wanted your help with regarding Newsup Pro and a couple SEO issues.

1. Error: “No H1 tag was found on your homepage.” ||| This is because we use an image for our header at the top (can send attachment if you want). Is there a way we can either trick the system into thinking there is an H1 tag on our homepage OR is there some other place on the page we could insert one?
2. Error: Image ALT Attributes: “Some images on your homepage have no?alt?attribute. (8)” The eight images that do not have Alt Attributes are all in the sidebar or at the top of the page (like the image directly underneath the header/title of our page. We’ve tried to manually add Alt Attributes to each image but the error still comes up. Suggestions?
