• One of our clients asked us to implement this plugin. We were concerned to see that the plugin creators have created a system where webmasters could create fake review information to send to Google even when there are no real reviews or ratings on their site.

As you can see below Sujay is making it difficult for non-technical users to abuse the system. I am still very concerned that homebrewn ratings will soon devalue any non-authoritive and documented rating system. I.e. we are all running after adding ratings now but Google will pull the ratings from SERPs soon due to abuse.

It’s happened to almost every innovation, starting with keywords, going through anchor text, comments then external links, infographics and soon ratings.

I’m sorry but could you kindly elaborate how does this plugin allow webmasters to create fake review information?

I believe there must be something you are confused with as we given our best attention to keep the plugin absolutely ethical and follow Schema.org guidelines.

As far as your concern goes about reviews to this plugin is – you will notice, we have been taking pride in providing FREE and QUALITY support to our users. And reviews like this / this / this and many more speak about it.

    Looking forward hearing from you.

    Hi Sujay,

    Thanks for your note.

It appears you allow and encourage site owners to enter their own reviews and manipulating the number of vote counts for Google as well as the ratings.

Is this not the case that with AIO Schema Snippets, Site Reviewers can just enter however many reviews they like and whatever vote count they like?

I look forward to hearing from you on this subject.

    Sure.

So for a reference, let’s assume I recently happened to visit some Pizza Restaurant named “L’Amourita Pizza” and now I want to review / rate experience I had with them on my blog.

    # Restaurant – L’Amourita Pizza
    # My review – Delicious, tasty pizza on Eastlake! L’Amourita serves up traditional wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizza, brought to your table promptly and without fuss. An ideal neighborhood pizza joint.
    # My Rating: 4 / 5

So, here is the review post on my blog I just wrote for purpose of your review.

And in a similar way, bloggers do reviews of many things such as movies, electronic gadgets, games, etc.

Now – please check Google’s Usage guidelines here – where I would recommend you watch the video and read the explanation further where they have detailed the properties.

So – this is what our plugin helps webmasters do conveniently without having them to write code for the markup data. And screenshot of WordPress Editor looks something like this.

    _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Further, just to help you understand how much do we care about following Google guidelines –

    Example 1:
The most frequently requested feature request by our users is whether they can hide the markup data. This request has been requested at least by 50 people through emails and on support forum like this / this

However as you see, we have always encouraged our users not to hide the content at all through our replies and FAQs of plugin.

    Example 2:
For Markup types such as Recipe where website collects “votes” from their users about how much do they like the post (in simpler terms – the feedback on quality of the post by webmaster) the plugin provides this facility as well. However to avoid abuse of this feature by unethical users of the plugin, we have restricted only one rating per IP.

    Example 3:
Many of our users have validated the Markup code by Google’s manual review team and on one occasion – a user pointed a minor issue or confusion. On the instance, we updated the plugin quickly to be in compliance of Google guidelines. Here is the link of support thread for your perusal.

    _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

There are many instances such as above three, where we had to limit our users or update the plugin, though they would have liked us more for NOT doing so. However we do care about keeping things ethical and web clean, probably as much as Google and people like you do – and have always encouraged our users doing so.

Hope this would give you some confidence in us as authors of this plugin. Please let me know if you still find something as inappropriate in this plugin and I would be glad to take a look.

    Looking forward,
    Sujay

    Hi Sujay,

Thank you for your detailed response. We’ve done additional testing on our end and agree you have done what you can to reduce abuse by non-technical site owners.

    Good luck with your plugin.

Thanks for reconsidering the review and your good wishes.

Well – what we do here is just bring Schema.org code for users in a very easier way as our part. And users – who want to abuse CAN do their dirty job with or without our plugin by just adding Schema.org code manually.

As Schema.org is invented by Google with other search engines – they must have figured out how to detect and remove their fake rich snippets from SERP.

Anyhow- thanks once again for your concern and dropping by. Tough I wish your five star rating could have motivated us more ??

    Regards,
    Sujay
