I am renaming all my page titles via “All in one SEO” which has boosted up my SEO score. However, I’m wondering if there’s a way to not have my page titles that will appear on Google, pull through to my website.

For example, I want my menu to display tabs like “Live Events”, but the Google searches to have the more in depth title, for example “Live Events – Get Your Tickets Now!”.

Also, I’m getting a lot of extra info appearing on the SERP preview, and it looks real messy (https://ibb.co/7x5f5fG5). I’ve been searching on how to change what info pulls through on Google but can’t find it.

    Any help is appreciated, cheers.

  • Hi @alkemy007,

I checked your site https://djalkemy.co.uk/ and it’s source code.

Upon checking I confirmed that the SEO title set using All in One SEO is “Home – DJ Alkemy”. https://a.supportally.com/i/2VnjYl

However when checked the SERPs using the site operator the SEO title appears as “DJ Alkemy: Home”. https://a.supportally.com/i/hrg5rL

If you’re using a caching plugin or have server caching enabled, clear it to ensure Google crawls the latest version of your pages.

It is important to note that Google doesn’t have to use the SEO title and description you provide and never has.

They take what you suggest and will return what they think is the best, most relevant title and description based on the term that’s being looked for. This process is completely automated, and you can’t force them to display the title and description you want.

We have an article about this here –

    https://aioseo.com/docs/why-doesnt-the-title-and-description-i-set-appear-in-search-results/

Google has its official documentation about this here:

Google made a change to how they generate titles in August 2021. You can read their announcement here –

    https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2021/08/update-to-generating-page-titles

    Noteworthy:

If you have recently changed your website’s content, I suggest you resubmit the URL to Google Search Console‘s URL Inspection Tool so that Google recrawls the URL to check the latest changes. Before resubmitting your URL, kindly ensure you have cleared the caches on your website and server (if applicable).

You can resubmit by following these steps:

    1. Go to Google Search Console and enter the URL for one of your pages in the Inspect any URL field at the top. Once Google has retrieved the data for that page, you should see a results screen with green checkmarks that mean everything is fine.

    2. Next, click the TEST LIVE URL button. Once Google has tested that URL, it should show the results. Check for any errors.

    3. Finally, click the REQUEST INDEXING button. Once Google has processed that, a popup should display the results.

Once done,?give Google some time to see if the content updates. Again, please note that?Google ultimately decides which content to display, and we have no control over Google.

Let me know if you have any further queries.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi @alkemy007,

Thanks for reaching out, and I apologize for the confusion in my colleague’s reply. I’d be happy to assist you with this.

You can achieve this by setting two different titles:

    1. WordPress Page Title
This is the title entered at the top of the page in WordPress, and it is by default used for navigation and menu as well. If you want your menu to display only “Live Events” you should enter that as the page title.

    Here’s a screenshot for a quick reference – https://a.supportally.com/i/3IVtdx

    2. AIOSEO Page/SEO Title
This is the SEO title set in AIOSEO for the page. You can enter a more descriptive and keyword-rich title here, e.g., “Live Events – Get Your Tickets Now!”, and search engines will use this as a suggestion for how the title should appear in search results.

You can edit the desired page and follow this guide to set this SEO title –
    https://aioseo.com/docs/setting-the-seo-title-and-description-for-your-content/#aioseo-setting-the-seo-title

However, it’s important to note that the title shown on the browser tab of the page uses the SEO Title. Here’s an example screenshot of how this works – https://a.supportally.com/i/W3Osay

Also, I’m getting a lot of extra info appearing on the SERP preview, and it looks real messy (https://ibb.co/7x5f5fG5). I’ve been searching on how to change what info pulls through on Google but can’t find it.

The SERP preview fetches the SEO Title and Meta Description details. You could set the desired AIOSEO Page Title as discussed above, and this preview should update accordingly.

If you want to modify the Meta Description as well (the text below the title in the preview), you can follow this guide to do that –
    https://aioseo.com/docs/setting-the-seo-title-and-description-for-your-content/#aioseo-setting-the-seo-description

We also have a video tutorial on the guide above.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

I’m really looking forward to helping you.

Hi Prabhat, thanks for that. That cleared up the issue I was having. I’m now going to see if I can get my page scores up.

One more thing. Is it possible to choose the social media images to use the featured picture, in bulk, or do I have to go through every page individually and change them, as at the moment, they just use my generic website logo on all of them.

    Thanks.

    Hey @alkemy007,

I’m glad that the issue is cleared.

You can follow the steps below to set featured image as the default social image –

    1. Go to All in One SEO > Social Networks > Facebook or Twitter tabs.
    2. Set the Default Post Image Source to Featured Image.
    3. Save Changes.

    Here’s a screenshot for a quick reference – https://a.supportally.com/i/4ghr3h

You can also read more about this here –
    https://aioseo.com/docs/setting-a-default-image-for-facebook/#setting-the-facebook-image-source
    https://aioseo.com/docs/setting-a-default-image-for-twitter/#setting-the-twitter-image-source

This would change the image source to Featured Image on all the posts where you haven’t manually modified the image (source).

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

I’m really looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks!
