SEO Ultimate / Redirection plugins clash! (it appears)!

  • On a current version of WordPress, tried to run both the Redirection plugin and the SEO Ultimate, which ever one I install first works, then when I activate the 2nd one, it crashes the plugin screen in admin…

    Is this because both offer 404 monitoring or another feature? Both trying to take over the .htaccess at all?

    Shame as both offer features we would have loved to use!

    Any ideas welcome….

    Hi, thanks – none, just a white screen (firefox)…

    Looked into possible errors elsewhere too, as our clients site is with fasthosts, they set a very low PHP memory limit of just 20mb on shared hosting!

    Been told, 32mb is a bare min, 128mb or greater prefer…

    So, bye bye fasthosts me thinks!

    Yes, 20mb is a very low limit. What’s probably happening is that you don’t have enough memory to run all your plugins. (SEO Ultimate uses about 2mb of memory, by the way.) Sounds like switching hosts would be a good idea.

    yup apparently 20mb limit with fast hosts despite being more expensive than my other hosts that run wp just fine – thought paying extra would help speed up wp a little then got caught and had to pay more for mysql database as well – activating downloaded plugins gives internal server error 500 messages and fasthosts say it is a wp problem not theirs – time to get a refund !
