Seperate Blog Posts

Can anyone help me figure out how to separate my blog posts? As in, have a space between the bottom of one post and the start of the next post where you can see the background image, and a new post-box is started.

I am using a child-theme based on TwentyTen, but would like to separate posts similar to the paperpunch theme.

(Here’s an example of how paperpunch theme separates posts)

I’m pretty new to this, so any help would be appreciated.
