I suggest that you look up the user in the Control Panel of your website and/or change the password there. There are several threats in the forums about how you can retrieve and change your username and password (for example in treats about changing the “admin” user name).

done that already, nothing doing.

P.S. from my global dash board, to get into headphonedeals.org, i had to enter a name (which you can’t change in the user settings) and a password of course. these aren’t working so i can’t get to headphoneadeals.org

Weird, and you’re sure that your wp-config.php had the correct data?

so i went for ‘lost password’ option, and it’s given me the user name of matthew73 (which i’ve never used) and a coded password 649a9i or something

when i enter those details, there’s no headphonedeals, no scarlettsart, and i only got the option to register a new blog.

now, my new user can log in, write, blah blah, but there’s no global dash, so no blog stats.

when i type

then type in my old password matthewscarlett1973, and add my password, it goes straight to the admin box, with matthewscarlett1973 already inserted, and it accepts no password.

i try to change thew ‘matthewscarlett1973’ to ‘matt’ and my password, and again it doesn’t accept it??

by the way, i set all three of us to ‘Administrators’

I’m not sure that I follow everything you say. (Maybe it would help if someone else would think with us.) Let me try to recapitulate.
You have a wordpress.COM blog and a website that runs on a wordpress(.ORG) installation? These two have nothing to do with eachother but the name WordPress. One isn’t connected to the other and the login of the first is not the login of the second. I know nothing about wordpress.COM blogs, so you might want to go to the .com-forums if the problem is with Scarlettsart.
As regards the Headphonesdeal, I can only say that you should not mix up that admin with that of Scarlettsart and for the rest, try the WP Codex page that I referred to. Your controlpanel is not the same as the WP dashboard and definately not the Scarlettsart administration. The control panel is provided by the webhost that hosts Headphonesdeal.org. There you can view (and change) the username (which is “matt”) and reset the password, but not as plain text. See the “Through phpMyAdmin” part and especially not the “decoded password” part.

Good luck. If this doesn’t do the trick (which isn’t really possible if all is done appropriately), it’s beyond my help and we have to hope that someone more experienced takes over.

i appreciate that you shouldn’t mix wordpress.com and www.ads-software.com, but it’s not my doing, it’s what happened when i set my blog up via hostgator?

If it’s hostgator – then ask them for help. We cannot do anything on their servers.
