Updated Review: Serious problem with subscription method
-
Apparently the support team corrected the system. I would encourage anyone to test the free version first before purchasing.
Original review:
My client is mad at me because I bought a plugin that doesn’t work properly.
Here is the problem:
New subscribers are being sent to constant contact list but NOT receiving automated reply e-mails.
Constant contact did troubleshoot this issue and said we need to change the method supspystic is sending contact information to constant contact (more info here: https://developer.constantcontact.com/docs/contacts-api/contacts-collection.html?method=POST).This is the complete info from the Constant Contact developers:
” The most common cause for this issue is if the plugin is setting a field called ACTION_BY to ACTION_BY_OWNER instead of ACTION_BY_VISITOR. This tells Constant Contact that a contact is being added or updated by the account owner directly, and not by the subscriber themselves. When contacts are added this way, no welcome email is sent when someone signs up. This is because our system is behaving as if you went into the Constant Contact website yourself and manually added them there.
We tested the form and I can confirm this is the cause. The first thing I would suggest is that you check if the ACTION_BY choice is a setting visible to you, and if so set it as ACTION_BY_VISITOR. If you do not have access to that setting, you will need to reach out to the plugin developer to change the method they are sending contact information. If they need more detail, you can forward them this email and our documentation on it here: https://developer.constantcontact.com/docs/contacts-api/contacts-collection.html?method=POST “
