Sermon and media templates not fully functioning WP 5.5 update

    Hello,

    Following the latest WordPress 5.5 update, The sermon template in particular the add new sermon configuration is not all working as it typically does. To name a few, scheduling does not work, adding tags,Topics and featured image do not respond as expected. Media page does not show thumbnails and adding or selecting images do not work.

    Hello,

    The Church Content plugin is compatible with WordPress 5.5.

    However, the theme you are using is apparently not (have seen this multiple times with sites using Forgiven now) and may need to be updated. Here is a link to the theme’s support page on ThemeForest: https://themeforest.net/item/forgiven-a-wordpress-theme-for-churches/6964937/support

    If you find that the issue is not the Forgiven theme then deactivate all of your plugins except Church Content. Does the problem cease? If so, re-activate each plugin one at a time, testing for the problem as you go, to determine which plugin is creating the issue.

    WordPress 5.5’s version of jQuery doesn’t support .live() and should use .on() instead. This is a common issue with plugins and themes after WordPress 5.5 and I suspect this is what you’re experiencing. A quick fix could be to activate this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/, but ultimately the theme or plugin causing the issue should be updated.

    Hey Steven,

    Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I took your advice and it worked flawlessly!

    Much appreciated. I also contacted the theme developer. I think I’m going to consider an alternative theme one that perhaps is more stable.
