• After updating the wordfence plugin I am getting a “sever error 500” when trying to gain access to the admin section of my wordpress install.
I did not update any other plugins so beleive that this caused the issue.
The front end of the site is unaffected but the backend displays the error.
    Please advise.
This was the only plugin that required updating so I am thinking wordfence is the issue.
It was wordfence support recommended me to reset the permalinks but I cannot do that without access to the backend. Can you advise how to do that resetting the links to default through ftp?
As well, with this break the links I have now established on my site? Or will the permalinks self-redirect?

  • Please uninstall the Wordfence plugin by renaming the Wordfence folder in the plugins directory See if this fixes the backend access. If it doesn’t I need to se a copy of the file .htaccess. Make sure and use pastebin to post here.

Did you enable falcon caching by any chance?

Renaming the wordfence folder did not fix the issue.
I had a backup of the site before upgrading the wordfence plugin and uploading those files did not make a change either.
I reinstalled the old version and all seems to be back to normal.
    Please advise.
