Server errors – no data is being displayed

    Hi there,

    This plugin has been working perfectly up until last month, but now I cannot see any data and continuously get errors, including:

    “Server error in goal_fields/get: Error establishing a database connection”.

    “Server error in do_action/notices: Error establishing a database connection”

    The website is working fine and there are no other issues. Any ideas?

    I would really appreciate your help ??

    Can you install the wp debugging plugin, then copy the debug log here? Then I can see what’s going on.

    @nataliecary This is what I was referring to, thanks. I don’t see any Burst related errors here.

    When checking your Burst Dashboard, can you also check the browser console for errors? You can do this by right clicking on the screen, the click “inspect element”, “console”.

    There you should see some errors listed. Maybe that will shed some light on the issue.

    @nataliecary just to make sure we have all PHP errors, can you purge the debug log (you will see a debug log menu item in the top bar, you can purge there as well).

    Then visit the Burst dashboard again, and check for Burst related PHP errors after?

    Hi Rogier,

    Does this help? I did purge the debug log. Its messed with the site a bit and I had to restore a backup – not sure what’s going on. The site has been stable.

    Not sure how purging the debug log could cause issues on the site, unless the site is close to its memory limits.

    The above shows a lot of 403 Forbidden responses. It is possible the server is blocking the requests from the Burst dashboard. This could be a security lock from the server. Maybe your host can tell you why your site is throwing 403 responses on the Rest API.

    do you maybe have a plugin installed that blocks requests to the rest api, like a security plugin or something similar?

    No, I don’t have anything installed that would block these requests. Just looking now, and even the settings page on Burst won’t load. Would uninstalling and reinstalling make any difference? Nothing has changed on the site significantly between when it last worked and now.

    As the 403 forbidden response is from the server, re-installing Burst probably won’t change anything. I would start with checking with your hosting company why the server is responding with 403 requests. They can probably see in the server logs why this is happening.

    They have said that there is nothing indicating why it would be doing this, and also said I could look at PHP errors/logs. But I don’t understand any of that, so I don’t think I am going to be able to fix anything. Will try the uninstall, if that doesn’t work, will need to find a different plugin. As I said, nothing has changed since it worked last, so I’m not sure what else to do.

    @nataliecary This is very strange. Looking at the 403 response on your server the hosting company is blocking the request, but reading their response they are not aware of it or don’t know why.

    This makes it very hard to resolve the issue indeed.
